What types of businesses does The Danto Group assist?

What makes The Danto Group different from a “Business Broker”?

Our goal is to take the time necessary to prepare the business so that it will sell and pass the scrutiny of due diligence in addition to meeting the owner’s expectations.

What is an “Accredited Appraisal”?

In addition to FASB (Financial Accounting Standard Board) requirements, lending regulations known as SOP 50-10. These regulations significantly increase requirements for business appraisals. Every SBA-guaranteed business acquisition loan over $350,000 must be supported by an independent appraisal performed by a “qualified source.”

What is a Qualified Source?

A “qualified source” is defined as an individual who regularly receives compensation for business valuations and is accredited by a recognized organization such as:

  1. Certified Business Appraiser (CBA), accredited through the Institute of Business Appraisers
  2. Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), accredited through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
  3. Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) or Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) accredited through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts
  4. Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), accredited through the American Society of Appraisers

While not formally stated, it is commonly believed that the accreditation should be from an organization that specializes in providing business valuation training. Thus, accreditations such as an MBA or CPA are not recognized as “qualified sources.”

What determines a business’s value and marketability?

In the simplest terms, value increases as the risk and inconsistency of future cash flows generated by a business decrease. Numerous factors increase or decrease the future risk of these cash flows. For example, a company with a diverse customer base, long term contracts, a well-defined brand, clear business processes, consistent revenue and other factors will command a higher value and be more desirable than a company that is not as strong in these areas.
